About Us

Who We Are

Emotional Tails is a blog for moms and dads (and all parents!) who want down-to-earth, sensible advice about being a family. We write about the things families actually go through – how much screen time is okay, getting good habits going, helping kids grow, and making sure everyone in the family talks to each other.

What we’re trying to do is straightforward: offer articles that are both thoroughly researched and easy to understand, so parents can feel more secure and a lot less stressed with everything they have on their plates.

What We Cover

Our content focuses on the areas of family life that matter most to parents of young children and school-age kids:

  • Parenting tips and daily routines that actually work for busy families
  • Child development milestones and what to expect at different ages
  • Screen time guidance and building healthy digital habits
  • School readiness and supporting learning at home
  • Family communication, behavior, and handling everyday conflicts
  • Family activities, traditions, and ways to build stronger connections

Our Approach

Each piece on Emotional Tails is created thoughtfully. We get our understanding from what we’ve learned about how children grow, how families function, and what parents actually go through. We absolutely don’t make things seem more dramatic than they are or overstate anything. Instead, our aim with each article is to give parents useful information, be there for them, and help them feel positive, all without making them feel more stressed or as though they’re doing anything wrong.

We’re convinced that families don’t all have to parent in the same way. One approach that is good for one family might not be a good fit for another. Because of this, our content gives you ideas that are adaptable and based on research, instead of strict rules.

Why Trust Us

Getting things right is really important to us. All the information in our articles comes from solid, well-known research in child development and the study of children, and we check our content often to be sure it’s up-to-date and useful. We’re very open about the fact that our articles are to give you information, and shouldn’t be used instead of advice from a doctor or mental health professional.
